RAEL: “The Trauma Myth” by Susan A. Clancy will help abuse victims more than years of therapy will!”
LAS VEGAS, Mar. 15 – Rael, founder and leader of the Raelian Movement, has expressed his support for psychologist Susan Clancy, who says the conventional trauma model emphasizing “damaging” aspects of sexual “abuse” in childhood is incorrect.
In her book “The Trauma Myth,” Clancy explained that the “damaged” label traditionally applied to victims actually causes them additional harm. According to her study, many victims of childhood sexual abuse report that they weren’t terrified, but uncomfortable and confused. Many say they experienced shame and guilt long after the acts occurred because they had “consented,” but that they didn’t experience the experience as the horrifying trauma popular theory says they endured. According to Clancy, they feel guilty because their cases don’t fit the societal mold of what they supposedly experienced.
Clancy bases her views on ten years of interviewing sex abuse victims plus an extensive review of literature dating back to the early 1900s.
Rael said in a statement released today that he personally knows people who were supposedly “sexually abused” in childhood according to conventional theory, but that the label is as misleading and harmful as Clancy suggests.
“These people were not only non-traumatized but think the great and harmonious sexual life they have enjoyed all their lives is due to positive sexual experience they had while still children,” he said.
Then why are these people always considered “victims” according to convention?
“Politically correct people want these individuals to be traumatized to conform to their Judeo-Christian model of sexual correctness,” he explained. “We [Raelians] absolutely condemn pedophilia, but as Clancy said, people must realize that underage sexual experience doesn’t necessarily harm children and traumatize them for life. What’s more, some children actually benefit from such experience in their sexual development – even if we don’t want to hear about it!”
He added, “A scientific fact is a scientific fact. The Judeo-Christan normalizators would like to force everyone who had underage sexual experience to feel traumatized by it. If they instead say they now feel great about it, the normalizers would have them put under psychiatric care as “sexual deviants,” attributing their happiness about the early experience to what they call ‘a trauma that made them abnormal.’ According to them, any normal child must be traumatized by such an experience, but it’s just not the case.”
Rael likened the “traumatized victim of childhood sexual abuse” concept to a contemporary witch hunt.
“All of this looks more like a religious inquisition than science,” he said. “And above all else, it doesn’t take into consideration the well being of human beings. An open and scientific society should welcome testimonies of former, so-called “sexually abused children,” who as adults report that they enjoyed the experience and that it helped them achieve very harmonious and happy sexual lives. And this does not promote pedophilia. It just shows that different people have different reactions to similar experiences, and that we don’t have to force harmonious people into feeling bad about their past just to satisfy our prejudice.”
“Rael’s teachings have helped thousands of people discard the Judeo-Christian concept that says having sex is bad most of the time,” said Brigitte Boisselier, spokesperson for the Raelian Movement. “In his weeklong Happiness Academy, he reinforces the importance of a healthy sexual life for overall well being, removing guilt, fear and the harmful concept of normality in the process.”
Boisselier explained that according to the Raelian philosophy, there is no such thing as “a normal sexuality.”
“There is only a vast array of differences,” she said. “For that reason, conservative people have tried to portray the Raelian philosophy as a deviant one that encourages pedophilia, just as they are now portraying Susan Clancy’s findings.”
